Gyani Pradhan Wong Ah Sui ’24 works on screen studies set construction.

Major: Screen studies

Clark Days: Gyani’s work has been deeply introspective, often exploring the senior’s concept of “home.” Their honors thesis film, “The Moving Room,” is a self-written, produced, and directed semi-autobiographical work contemplating their move from Sikkim, India, to the United States in 2017. They also directed the film “Long Play,” exhibited original art in the ArtsWorcester 20th Annual College Show, and spent last summer in Sikkim documenting in 600 photographs what it meant to return home, a project funded by the Steinbrecher Fellowship Program.

Post-Commencement Plans: Gyani will do pre- and post-production work such as editing, outreach, and scheduling for a film project documenting the experiences of young people in Central Mexico amid the uncertainty of climate change. The film is a group project that received a $10,000 Projects for Peace award. They’re also director of photography for a Clark alum’s short narrative film and will be working freelance gigs locally.

Reflection: “Even if you’re not majoring in an art field, everyone should be able to see the potential to express themselves through art.”

Stay Tuned: A photo essay documenting Gyani’s meditations on “home” is forthcoming.
